Unlike monocrystalline and polycrystalline solar panels that come in standardized 60 72 and 96 cell variants thin film technology does not come in uniform sizes. The average dimensions for solar panels are 65 inches long by 39 inches wide with the two exceptions. Every solar panel is made up of individual solar photovoltaic pv cells. Most solar panels for rooftop solar installations are made up of 60 solar cells while the standard for commercial solar installations is 72 cells and can go up to 98 cells or more.

Nowadays the market is dominated by two solar cell sizes. Pv cells come in a standard size of 156 mm by 156 mm which is approximately 6 inches long and 6 inches wide. 39 x 66 3 25 feet x 5 5 feet 72 cell panels. 39 x 77 3 25 feet x 6 42 feet.

Standard solar panel dimensions 60 cell panels. Physically speaking the panels are about 65 inches by 39 inches for residential installations and they weigh about 40 pounds per panel. As such the power capacity from one thin film panel to another to another will largely depend on its physical size.
